Elk Falls
Visit the suspension bridge!
About
Elk Falls is a great hike for families. The powerful waterfall and suspension bridge make for a fun outing, and the old-growth forest makes for a serene setting. The suspension bridge opened on Elk Falls Provincial Park's 75th anniversary in 2015, it's 90 metres long and hangs 60 metres above the Campbell River canyon floor. Because the river is diverted for hydroelectric generation, the flow of Elk Falls remains fairly constant throughout the year. However, it may be flowing slightly stronger in the springtime and after strong rains.
If you only want to see Elk Falls and the bridge, you can complete the hike in about 30 minutes. But, it's worth checking out the different viewing platforms and extending the hike to Deer Falls. This allows you to hike the trail in a loop.
