Fishing Pier
The Campbell River Discovery Fishing Pier.
About
The Discovery Fishing Pier extends 150 ft from shore and is 600 ft long, allowing for unobstructed views of the Discovery Passage. The pier provides easy access to recreational fishing with its built-in rod holders, bait stands, fish cleaning tables, covered areas, picnic tables and benches. Rend a rod and other fishing gear at the (seasonal) Discovery Pier Concession.
In the summer months, the staff run a leader board and track all the catches made off the pier. We like to check in and see what the biggest catch of the day was, and of course, go for ice cream at the concession stand. The giant ice cream cones are famous around here.
While your here at the pier, and if you're into seeing (and touching..!) some cool local marine species, check out the Discovery Passage Aquarium. The aquarium is open from spring until fall each year. Specimens from representative local species are collected from the marine environment in the spring and returned to the area of collection at the end of the season. One more thing to do around here... Every Sunday from May to September from 10:00am until 2:30pm you can visit The Pier Street Farmers Market and Arts Fair. Fresh farm produce, plants, gifts, crafts, baking, and more. There are some food trucks and a great coffee stand as well.
